The Food Ministry
Feeding the hungry physically and spiritually...
We at Deeper Life Christian Center have a wonderful ministry that not only gives physical food to the hungry but spiritual food also.
Once a month, we have our Food Give Out when the community, along with people from all over West Georgia, comes out to receive help with groceries. And while they're here, we take the opportunity to share the love of Christ with them through our words - offered in a Bible lesson - and by our actions.
Our Goal:
Along with Pastors Dan and Carla Patrick, the Food Ministry Volunteers have the vision of obtaining a large storage facility so that we may not only continue to help those in our surrounding areas in need, but to also reach across the world and help with all who are hungry.
Every Tuesday, the Food Ministry Volunteers take time out of their busy schedules to prepare the bags for the monthly give out. If it weren't for their preparations, we wouldn't be able to feed over 300 families a month. The 4th Saturday of the month is our scheduled give out (except in November and December, then our food give out is usually the 3rd Saturday of the month). We depend on the faithful volunteers - who choose to give up their Saturday mornings - to help with the give out so that not only is the food being handed out but also God's Word and His love through our actions.
The Vision
of Deeper Life Christian Center's Food Ministry is "to not only be able to give food, but to help the hungry and needy in other areas of their lives. This vision is to also see souls saved."
A Special Note...
Willie Jewell Brawner has stepped aside as director of the Food Ministry here at Deeper Life Christian Center. Willie has been such a blessing and has been director for over 16 years. She and her late husband Jesse built the Food Ministry in to what it is today.
Willie is passing the torch to Jeanette Harp with the hopes of Jeanette's husband Harry coming on to help also. Willie is not going anywhere but is redirecting her faithfulness in other areas of the church.
